Gloves In A Bottle helps alleviate dry itchy skin

DRY SKIN CARE: BODY & HANDS

I found that using Gloves In A Bottle cream while quilting helps tremendously - my dry cuticles are smoothed out and don't snag the delicate fabrics, as well as the rest of my hands are very smooth and it is much easier to work. Also, as the lotion holds your moisture inside and is not greasy at all - hands don't sweat and aren't slippery, while being protected. It's a true find!

Help soothe and moisturize dry skin using Gloves In A Bottle

After absorption, it wears long and kept my hands from drying even while stripping a tile floor and scrubbing wire screens (ah, the joys of renovating a home, but it *was* a good test!). One pleasant surprise was that it really tamed by cuticles. My fingers looked like they’d had a manicure!

I use a cream that's called 'Gloves in a Bottle'. It isn't one of the silicone gloves, but it works something like that, only better. You put it on and you're protected from the corrosive effects of fertilizer, disinfectants, and cleaners. It makes it much easier to clean your hands when you're finished working. (Paint wipes off instead of having to be removed with paint thinner, etc.) If you massage it into your cuticles, it helps there, too. You shed it with your skin, so you don't have to scrub off the GIAB at the end of the day.

This week I saw my dermatologist for a follow-up visit, the first time I’d seen him since starting with the tape (my oncologist had called in that prescription, but the two have discussed my case on the phone). I told him the tape was much more helpful than anything else I’d tried, although the fingertips and nail margins remained very sensitive and easily injured. He said the tape does a good job on inflammation, but it also makes the skin thinner and less able to retain moisture, and he recommends that it be used for a maximum of two consecutive weeks and then set aside for at least a week.

To protect the skin after the tape is off, he suggested Gloves In A Bottle, an OTC “shielding lotion” which bonds with the outer layer of skin to help protect the deeper layers from irritants and prevent their natural oils and moisture from escaping. It does not wash off, but comes off naturally with the exfoliated outer layer cells and needs to be reapplied every 4 hours for best protection. One drop is enough to coat all of my fingers, and it does help — a lot. I’m inclined to think the fingertip problem might have been largely prevented if I’d been using this product all along.

I used to suffer from eczema on my hands which was clearly gardening related but I could never work out what caused it. It used to start in the summer and be so bad the itching would keep me awake. The best treatment I found was Gloves in a Bottle - a sort of barrier cream that actually bonds to your skin and allows it to heal.

Because my ds can't color with markers and such because it absorbs into his skin and makes him react, this lotion was recommended to me. It provides an actual barrier for your skin against everything on the outside while still allowing your skin to function as it is supposed to. I received it less than a week ago and it has already proven itself to be amazing in my house.

I used it on my 2 yo when he got a deep scratch on his nose and it healed up immediately.

My teen dd had some infected acne spots and she washed her face well and then applied it and the infection was gone by the end of the day. Normally the infected spots have trouble healing and stay for days.

I have had a problem for months with my bottom lip being chapped and not healing. I tried just leaving it alone and drinking lots of water (because balms and such can make your lips worse), but it wouldn't heal. I applied the tiniest amount of Gloves in a Bottle for a couple days and my lips healed up. It isn't that you are applying medicine to your skin. You are just protecting your skin so it can do the job it is supposed to of healing itself.

Does your face burn, or do your fingers prune up after a dive?

I found the coolest stuff!!

It's called "Gloves In a Bottle", and I really hadn't given it much thought after seeing it at the local pharmacy - but I took one of the free samples home, and I really liked it!

I used it on the same day that we were building a bonfire behind the house - I was refilling my chainsaw with fuel, and some splashed on my hands... it beaded up, and it took me a minute to realize that a few hours ago I had put the lotion on.

Well, I was used to my face stinging after coming out of the water, so I thought - hey why not!? I put the lotion on my face and my hands, and after coming out of the water my face felt fine. The weird thing is that my hands were barely pruned up!

Truly great stuff. I used it for years to protect my hands from a strong alkaline degreaser (Zep Purple). We slathered it on up to our armpits some days. It creates a barrier that prevents alot of the moisture/osmotic transfer, and does wonders to prevent "prune finger". Feels kinda silky on your hands when dry.

Y’all know that dehydration is one of the symptoms of my medical condition. That’s more than just thirst. My hair, skin and nails suffer from the lack of moisture. I’ve been handling great stacks of paper every day while organizing my files and catching up my books. Every gas receipt and phone bill is being filed in the proper place so I can compile my expenses and get my taxes caught up. Every report has already been entered into my work logs and journaled in the books. Old files have been purged and I’ve shredded hundreds of pages of sensitive documents. I’ve handled thousands of pieces of paper just in the last week.

Paper sucks the moisture out of my skin, so I’m keeping Gloves In A Bottle on my desk and I apply it every few hours while doing this work. It’s a shielding lotion that goes into your skin and helps protect it from inside out, as opposed to conventional moisturizers which merely coat the outer layer of skin. Using Gloves In A Bottle has kept all of my paper-handling from drying and damaging my skin. It doesn’t leave a sticky residue when applied and has not made any smears on my paperwork because - well, how can it? It’s not sitting on the surface of my skin, it’s inside. It’s good stuff. You should try it!

  • Member Question: What about using antibiotic ointments on dry cracked skin from hand washings?

  • Kathy Fields, MD: Antibiotic ointment may be more than necessary. Just petrolam-based products will be very effective at locking in moisture. Minimize washing as much as possible. Reapply barrier creams. Recommendations for possible hand moisturizers include Aquafor ointment, silicone-based products like Gloves in a Bottle, which restore the barrier without leaving your hands very greasy, and urea-based products with reapplication after hand washing. When you wash your hands, try to minimize hand contact, washing only the fingertips and drying the hands thoroughly after washing.

  • Q: Will gardening with bare hands block guaifenesin?

  • A: Yes. Plants in your garden produce salicylates to ward off fungus. You should wear gloves that create a barrier between your skin and plant juices. Make sure that your gloves are waterproof--leather or latex (rubber) are best. If you wear cotton gloves be sure to use a barrier cream such as Gloves in a Bottle (www.glovesinabottle.com) to protect your skin from absorbing salicylates.

I work in a commercial kitchen, and constant hand washing, exposure to chemical sanitizers, and wet cleaning towels had irritated a part of my right hand. It was dry and cracked (painfully so) for months. I tried other hand lotions, but without success. As instructed, I applied the Glove in a Bottle about every 4 hours. In a couple of days, the dryness started to improve...in a couple of weeks, it was almost gone without even being able to see where it was all cracked before. I would recommend this product to anyone.
